Interview with GOD
하나님과의 인터뷰

I dreamed I had an Interview withGod
하나님과 인터뷰하는 꿈을 꾸었다.

God asked
하나님께서 물으셨다.

"So you would like tointerview me?"
"그래, 나와 인터뷰하고 싶다구?"

"If you have the time,"I replied.
"예, 시간이 허락하신다면요"

God smiled.
하나님은 미소지으셨다.

"My time is eternity...
what questions do you have in mind for me?"
"내 시간은 영원하니라...
뭘 묻고 싶으냐?"

"What surprises you mostabout humankind?"
"인간에게서 가장 놀랍게 여기시는 점은 어떤 것들이세요?"

God answered...
하나님께서 대답하시기를,

"That they get bored withchildhood, they rush to grow up,
and then long to be children again."
"어린 시절이 지루하다고 안달하며 서둘러 어른이 되려는 것,
그리고, 어른이 되면 다시 어린애로 돌아가고 싶어하는 것."

"That they lose their healthto make money...
and then lose their money to restore their health."
"돈을 벌기 위해 건강을 해치고 나서는,
잃어버린 건강을 되찾기 위해 번 돈을 다 써버리는 것."

"That by thinking anxiouslyabout the future, they forget the present,

such that they live in neither thepresent nor the future."
"미래에만 집착하느라 현재를 잊어 버리고,
결국 현재와 미래를 구분하지 못 하고 살아가는 것."

"That they live as if theywill never die,
and die as though they had never lived."
"결코 영원토록 죽지 않을 것처럼 살다가는,
종국에는 하루도 살아본 경험이 없는 존재처럼
무의미하게 죽어 가는 것이란다."

God's hand took mine
and we were silent for awhile.
하나님은 내 손을 잡으셨다.
그렇게 한 동안 말이 없었다.

And then I asked,
내가 다시 여쭈었다.

"As a parent, What are someof life's
lessons you want your children to learn?"
"저희들의 아버지로서 당신의 자녀들에게 가르쳐 주고 싶은

인생의 교훈은 어떤 것들이 있나요?"

"To learn they cannot makeanyone love them.
All they can do is let themselves be loved."
"누군가 억지로 너희를 사랑하게 할 수는 없으니
오직 스스로 사랑 받는 존재가 되는 길밖엔 없다는
사실을 배워야 하느니라..."

"To learn that is not good tocompare themselves to others."
"남과 자신을 비교하는 일은 좋지 못하며,"

"To learn to forgive bypracticing forgiveness."
"용서를 실천함으로써 용서하는 방법을 배우기를!"

"To learn that it only takesa few seconds to
open profound wounds in those they love,
and it can take many years to heal them."
"사랑하는 사람에게 심각한 상처를 주는 데는
단 몇 초밖에 걸리지 않지만,
그 상처를 치유하는 데는 여러 해가 걸릴 수도 있다는 사실을."

"To learn that a rich personis not one who has the most,
but is one who needs the least."
"가장 많이 가진 자가 부자가 아니라,
더 이상 필요한 것이 없는 사람이 진정한 부자라는 것을."

"To learn that there arepeople who love them dearly,
but simply do not yet know how to express or
show their feelings."
"사람들은 서로를 극진히 사랑하면서도,
단지, 아직도 그 사랑을 표현하는 방법을
모르고 있을 뿐이라는 사실을..."

"To learn that two people canlook at the same thing
and see it differently."
"두 사람이 똑 같은 것을 바라보면서도
그것을 서로 다르게 인식할 수도 있다는 사실을."

"To learn that it is notenough
that they forgive one another,
but they must also forgive themselves."
"서로 용서하는 것만으로는 부족하니,
스스로를 용서해야 한다는
사실을 배워야 하느니라...."

"Thank you for yourtime," I said humbly.
"is there anything else you'd like
your children to know?"
"시간을 내 주셔서 감사합니다.
그밖에 또 들려주실 말씀은요?"
내가 겸손하게 여쭙자

God smiled and said....
하나님은 미소 지으며 대답하였다.

"Just know that I amhere."
"명심하여라. 내가 여기 있다는 사실을..."
